More conversation on Ground Zero after Obama comments

There were more problems after Obama spoke Friday night at the Muslim community center in lower Manhattan, meaning more Ground Zero debates. Muslims have the very same rights as all the other religions, explains Obama to the Republicans who then said they’d use that against democrats within the fall elections because of how significant the comments were. The chatter on weekend cable news overheated. Meanwhile, it was business as usual at the bars, strip joints and liquor stores surrounding Ground Zero. The weekend nevertheless help worship services for the mosque that is near ground zero already.

Ground zero as it concerns politicians

Friday night was the beginning of the Muslim holiday, Ramadan, which is when Obama decided to speak at the Ground Zero mosque on the issue. Apparently the president explained, as outlined by ABC News, in “forceful tones” about how American values should be probably the most significant thing when it comes to every little thing around Ground Zero. Democrats running in midterm elections quailed at the prospect of defending the president’s statement. In a CNN poll taken last week, 68 percent of respondents said they opposed the plan to build a mosque near Ground Zero. It would seem that Republicans who have seen that response have pandered to the voters. The New York Times quotes Newt Gingrich saying Obama was “pandering to radical Islam.”

Ground Zero comments in context of every little thing else Obama said

The Ground Zero mosque is emerging as a divisive issue within the midterm elections. Because Obama is supporting the Muslim community so much, Republicans call him “out of touch” and plan to use that in elections against him. We get to see what the Washington Post puts as Obama’s comments with extra things that other media left out conveniently:

Now, we must all recognize and respect the sensitivities surrounding the development of Lower Manhattan. The 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for our country. And the pain and the experience of suffering by those who lost loved ones is just unimaginable. So I understand the emotions that this issue engenders. And Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground.

You will find a lot of mosques in lower Manhattan

The Ground Zero mosque, a local issue, is now political fodder for a bogus national referendum. Nobody at Ground Zero seems to really notice. Mosques in lower Manhattan abound, reports Indy Posted. A mosque is already in place only 2,000 feet from where Ground Zero is. The Muslim community center would rise 686 feet closer. The New York Daily News explains that Ground Zero is where the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history occurred, and anybody can stop by to get porn, bet on horses or take care of much personal business. If you go two blocks down the road, you are able to see nearly naked women on the Pussycat Lounge windows. Next door, the marquee at the Thunder Lingerie and peep show sports an American flag above a window display of sex toys.
